Virginia (Ginny) Stern grew up in Norfolk, attended a girls’ boarding school, studied at Hornsey College of Art, became a model, and later left the fashion industry after coercive sexual experiences and drug use. Her father’s first family died in a concentration camp. He survived, moved to Great Britain after the war and remarried. Ginny was the offspring of this new relationship. At the start of Event/Horizon, Ginny’s father is still alive, but Ginny’s mother dies when she was a teenager. Ginny is an accomplished draughtswoman. Her portfolios contain nudes, portraits, still lifes, landscapes, watercolours and prints.
