Westwich

Westwich is a fictional East Anglian town and one of the principal settings of Foul Papers. It serves as a counterpoint to London and its meretricious celebrity culture. Westwich contains the domestic, commercial, literary and social network through which Charles Davenport’s past and present are brought together. Key locations include: Charles’s house, The Hollies, on Victoria Road, the Macchiato coffee shop on the market square, the Rose & Crown pub/hotel, the railway station, the river, Jean Smith’s former house at 9 Laurel Grove and The Nook, a smaller house not far from The Hollies.
